Network connection error using WLW

Hi,
I am trying to use Windows Live Writer to publish posts to my wordpress blog online. (I did not download and install wordpress, I just have a blog online). I have been getting the following error:

Network connection error-Error attempting to connect to blog at
https://blogname.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php

I noticed it is trying to connect to https and not http. Is there a way to fix this?
The address I put in when I was setting up WLW was with http and not https but it always forces an additional “s” onto the http when I try to publish a post.
