WordPress does not have yet 2FA out of the box,
what plugin are you using?
It will be best to ask on that plugin support forum.
Thanks for quick reply, but Hmmm… WP.com has two-step:

… so I assumed WP.org did, too.
Problem is: I can’t log into /wp-admin to see my plugins without the code! But now that I think about it, I’ll check with my Theme supplier; maybe it’s them…

COM? We are ORG here
See the differences: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
WordPress.COM support is here: https://wordpress.com/support/
I know that. That’s why I’m asking. But I’m now talking to my Theme’s support and am on the trail to a solution there.
Thanks.
If you connect via FTP to your web server file system then:
1. you may be able to see what plugins and theme you’ve got.
2. you may be able to disable your 2FA plugin by changing the name of its folder.
Thanks, Tor-Bjorn. I solved it in a similar way. Turns out that my security plugin was providing the two-step codes, and they showed me how to alter the wp-config.php file in cPanel, which let me in to generate more codes.
All is well. Thanks again.
