First thing I did this morning was go to admin and I had 3 spam. I clicked on them and there were no spams listed. I then went to my website http://virgilcook.com and there are no posts. I went back to admin and my stats show that I do not have any posts.

I hope there is a way to restore my posts. I do have a backup but I have never used it to restore anything before. I wanted to see if there was something I can do before trying a restore?

Would anyone be willing to check it out and let me know. I know there are several people here that have helped me in the past and everyone is super…

  • yup, your site definitely has no visible posts. First thing to do is to check your DB and see if the posts are still in it.

You may just need to repair your database tables from your host

Thank you for your response. Where do I find my DB?

I have the same problem. Just was writing a post this morning, went to save it, and it disappeared. When I tried to recover, I have NO posts out of the years of posts I’ve built up on my blog.

I wouldn’t even begin to know how to recover this, but it seems odd that two of us have the same problem. My host is hostgator.

    It’s different by host

Log onto your host, and look around. It’s usually managed by a program called phpmyadmin

If you are lucky, your host will have some help files you can resort to about finding, looking at, and repairing your DB (database)

its a mysql database you are looking for

    My host is also Hostgator.

One thing that I thought of — I tried to do auto-update of plugins from my admin panel yesterday and it failed. But, it didn’t seem to affect my blog as of yesterday. This morning is when it did a disappearing act.

I have three other blogs and they are all fine.

If you both have the same problem, on the same host, it may be time to contact them. Sounds like a hosting issue

All 4 of my blogs are hosted the same place but I only have a problem with this one domain. I will contact Hostgator. Thank you for your help.

My error log has multiple entries saying things like WordPress database error MYSQL has gone away for query, and it’s not finding things.. then it says that wp_posts is marked as crashed and shoudl be repaired for query select 1, etc.

Can the host do this? I’ve never run into this before?

you can repair your own tables if you log onto your host and find phpmyadmin

Hostgator did some updates and they will fix it for you if you call them at 866-964-2867.
