  • Cool, thanks for posting your tweaks for others. It might be cool for you to tell folks what your tweaks accomplished, in case they’re not adept at reading the PHP. 🙂

That’ a good idea, and I should have thought of it myself. There are Two Main Reasons that I changed the Content.php file in my Child Theme Only (which I copied from Kelly’s Parent theme using cPanel on my Hosting Provider’s Server):

1.) I have always used Featured Images in the majority of my Posts, but very infrequently do I EVER embed them in the post itself. Videos are embedded, NOT the images. Featured Images are used with short excerpts to LEAD INTO each individual Post. It is my own personal preference…probably not standard.

2.) The Reason I do it, is to allow the viewer to scroll through 50 or more Featured Images (with short excerpts included) on their smart phones to VISUALLY FIND a single Post, that he/she may want to see.

IF I Did Not Change this Content.php entry, then viewer smartphones would be overloaded with 50 plus Posts with the Featured Images, YouTube Videos, and All Content Texts, one after the other. AFTER doing a small, one-one-one survey with smartphone & tablet users, I have been told that they only want to see the Featured Image ONCE, and then be led directly to the Video of their Choice (a larger survey may have given me a different result).

Since I use quite-a-few Re-directed pages in my Primary Nav Menu, I wanted to provide the viewer with lists of their own search results with Only Featured Images & Short Excerpts to give them More Choices before making a Final Decision on what to view. THE PARENT THEME DOES NOT DO THAT.

In the past, I made a grave error by ASSUMING that most other WP Site Owners were using their themes the same way that I do. I now understand that that is not the case. So, these changes are nothing more than a personal preference that I have. Here are some of the results from my Nav Menu: Blog ; Random Thoughts ; Music Videos ; and Tags .
