Multisite dashboard redirect loop and no CSS

Having some problems with multisite, basically got it set up, can create new websites on the account, but when I try visit the child site dashboard it just goes to a re-direct loop, and when I try and load the page, it loads up without CSS just with plain txt. I reckon maybe something server side, do I need to set up a new root folder for the site or anything? Never had to do that on my work one so I’m thinking might be something to do with my hosting account, I have a baby package with hostgator, not sure the ins-and-outs of it though. Do I need to add some code somewhere or change a setting?
