Im pretty sure all the users are meant to be able to login to both and it registers them to both

Correct. But. The users don’t show up on the new site until they visit it πŸ™‚ They do have access though.

the themes etc that are meant to be connected are not.

This is … not so much. Sites are separate.

    Oh ok thanks.

Just that theres an option to select themes and it says:

Themes must be enabled for your network before they will be available to individual sites.

Also I did try login with a test account onto my new blog that is signed up to my first blog but that didnt work.

    Any ideas?

also the themes etc that are meant to be connected are not.

no idea what you mean by this.

Also I did try login with a test account onto my new blog that is signed up to my first blog but that didnt work.

are they added as a user to the second blog? If they are logged in to the main site, then… they are logged in to the second site as a pseudo-subscriber. meaning, then can leave a comment if you have “must be logged in to comment” but they cannot access the dashboard of the blog because you haven;t given them permissions to do so.

Oh, so I have to add all the users myself?

I have over 1000 members on my main blog so is there a fast way to put them over?

When they register/login to one blog will it add them to the other in the future now?

I would also like them to have full access to the 2nd blog when signed in to the 1st blog.

It depends what you mean by “full access”. Are all those 1000 members something other than subscriber? Do they *need* to login to the backend to perform a specific task?

All of them except about 10 are subscribers.

I would like them to just have normal access to blog 2 like they would with blog 1.

    They already do.

they will not be logging in on blog2. they login on blog1 and they will alreayd be logged in to blog2. that’s where their profiles live.

Oh ok, so the they can not login to blog 2 using a login form, and have to login to blog 1 first?

Is it possible to have it so they can login, edit profile, post comments/post in forums and register to blog 2 and it signs them up/signs them into the blog 1 (and the other way round).

This is what I would like.

It works like it does at wordpress.com.

they should always be directed to login via blog#1. Is the forum attached to blog#2?

Im using mingle and mingle forum for my login/forums… will this affect it?

    This one? http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/mingle-forum/

yeah, it probably would. You’ll need to ask the developers if it’s MultiSite capable.

    Yes that one.

    Ok then, thanks.

And you still did not answer my question – is the forum attached to blog #1 or blog #2?

You may be running around in circles trying to get users on blog #2 when they might not need to be there.
