• Hi All,

I have an very unusual client requirement

My Client is having WP & Joomla sites hosted on same server. Now they want to handle the site contents from single dashboard( i.e All 5 WP sites content has to be maintained in single dashboard !!!!), Can this be acheived?

    To be more clearer
    Client having
    x.com hosted in XX.XX.XX.XX/x.com
    y.com hosted in XX.XX.XX.XX/y.com
    z.com hosted in XX.XX.XX.XX/z.com
now they want to maintain x.com, y.com and z.com’s content in single dashboard say single place where all sites content can be managed instead of going and editing in individual wp-admin.

    Phew

  • You can set it up as a Network and that way a super-admin will be able to switch between the admin area if each site.

If they are expecting a way to manage every site from one area… that’s not going to happen. Firstly, that sort of ability hasn’t been written into any CMS that I’ve ever seen before. Secondly, it’s a really really bad idea… Imagine hwo confusing it’s going to get loggin into the ‘posts’ area and seeing posts form 4 or 5 websites and having no idea if which one is on which site. Pages would be even worse as pages are going to relate specifcailly to one area on one site. That sounds like a huge administration nightmare.

Remember… as a general rule clients have got no idea of what they realyl want. They have some grat over-all visions, but when it comes down to the small things (like how they are going to actually administer their sites) they will never have any idea, and when they have ideas like this they need to be told why it’s such a bad idea. Thne you can sell them on options that will work, and will make their lives easier, and they’ll be thankful for you taking the time to help*.

    * Of course there’s always exceptions, but a business person with any sense will be OK.
