Multi Set up

    I am trying to set up my sports website to be a multi site. I have been following the WordPress.org documentation to do it and when I edit the .htaccess file I get a 505 error and then I have to start from scratch. This is the third website I have set up as a multi site and the first time I have run into this problem. What am I doing wrong?
