Moving files to root

Hi there,
When I initially installed WP I was running Joomla and I was advised to install WP in /wp off the root.

This has been working fine until now, one of the features I use on my mobi site to go to Full Site is struggling with this configuration.

I have been advised to move my files to the root. I have read the documentation but need to clarify. I am wanting to move files from /wp to / URL does not change and database is not moving. Can I just copy everything from /wp to / and what if anything do I need to change?
