    Hello,

I've just installed a WordPress blog, and am having trouble downloading a new theme.

    I receive the error message:

Abort class-pclzip.php : Missing zlib extensions

Is this a problem with the installation?

    Thanks,
    Sara

I'm having the same problem. Apparently the default PHP software that came with the system setup didn't have zlib extension turned on.

From what I can tell at this blog post's comment thread, the PHP5 software has to be reinstalled or re-built.

Well, you really can't do anything about it. Your server's PHP configuration is missing the zlib extensions, which is typical of free hosting providers. You'll have to install the theme manually:

ok for those of you who are having trouble with the error:Abort class-pclzip.php : Missing zlib extensions and you are hosting the website yourself, i am running suse enterprise 10 and went into yast and searched for zlib and the result came up with zlib-php module, i installed that package, restarted apache and was able to successfully upload the file that i wanted i suggest you guys try the same and let me know if it works for you as well.

    Cheers
