And what’s the URL to your site where this is happening?
you are quoting a WordPress.com link which is not relevant for problems with a WordPress.org based site.
or is your site with WordPress.com?
then please go to https://en.support.wordpress.com/
if your site is based on WordPress.org, can you post a link to your site to illustrate the problem?
this forum here only supports the ‘swell lite’ theme – is that what you are using?
does the problem continue if you temporarily deactivate all plugins?
I have the same problem.
Example: http://www.nowwhatmummy.com/2015/12/now-what/
The line:
‘So now I’m sat here in my slightly smelly gym clothes writing my first blog.’
appears with no ‘f’ in first.
All plugins are disabled. If I switch to the standard 2015 theme the problem goes away.
Current theme is Radiate.
I’m sure this did not happen until today, when I updated both wordpress to 4.4.1 and this theme to its latest version.
If I disable styles in Safari’s Develop menu, look at source, look in ‘reader view’ (in Safari) or even select the text on the rendered webpage and copy, the f *is* included.
So it appears that the f is styled to have foreground colour = background colour, or something like that.
I’m looking through the css but I’m not sure what I’m looking for.
@joelbaker
please start you own topic, in your case in your theme’s forum at https://wordpress.org/support/theme/radiate#postform
in your site, the ‘f’ seems only be missing in the word ‘first’ (actually as far as I could find out, only in any word starting with ‘fi’) – there are some other words starting with ‘f’ without issues. could be a javascript problem.
Thanks Michael.
I seem to be missing fi in general, at a first glance.
I’m fairly convinced it is something to do with the ligature handling given all I’ve put above, and I doubt this is something totally specific to a given theme, but a more general problem – several people have the same problem but are using different themes.
I’ve changed the optimizeLegibility where I can see it set, but that hasn’t helped yet. I will post on radiate.
Thanks.

Thank you for your messages. My site is based on WordPress.org. I am using the Swell ThemeTrust theme (see: http://themetrust.com/themes/swell/)
Letters “f” are still missing on my site when viewing in Firefox and Safari on iPhone. Have not tried Chrome yet.
Safari desktop is working perfect.
Here is a link to a page of the site: http://www.philippe-safire.net/project/last-summer/
As you can see, words like “indeinitely”, “lash”, “ilm” are missing a “f.”
The same problem appears on all the pages of the website.
Thank you for your help.
