Not sure if im missing something but the square radar feels to me almost useless as fighting fraud, it can allow you to block the most basic settings like IP and country and address missmatch but this is nothing for an actualy frauster.

Why was the 3ds secure options described in the documentation removed ?

A simple option that could stop over 50% of the fraud would be to allow merchants to block 3DS unsupported cards. or block payments not authorized with 3DS.

why is this not an option in the first place since square uses 3ds technology?

  • Hi,

    This is a good question.

Indeed, 3D Secure Verification is supported by Square for WooCommerce extension. Please also note that Square has available a Risk Manager feature that can help you against potential fraud when accepting online payments. I can confirm that this feature is available on the Square side. It will look transactions that are coming, and can block them depending on certain criteria. It is not something that is running into WooCommerce Square extension.

More info: How do I sign up for Risk Manager?

At this time, there’s no way to manually turn on 3DS verification (I mean there is not a manual option), but Square supports this if the card requires additional verification.

Checking at the WooCommerce.com extension repository you will be able to find additional security extensions e.g. reCaptcha for WooCommerce or the WooCommerce Anti-Fraud, they can help to provide you additional security layers for your business.

    I hope this helps 🙂
