    Hello everyone,

    Site: http://www.abak-biuro.pl
I messed with redirection in .htaccess file

I was doing an edit by using hta editor plugin in wordpress panel but I guess typed something wrong in meantime. In the end I cannot access to the website.

I have however an access to FTP. The problem is that the file used by HTA Editor in WordPress Panel is different one than in root wordpress file (I edited first on ftp but I didn’t see this by hta editor and no changes were working.)

The question is: how to repair it? Where is the .htaccess?

This is how it looks on ftp.

Thank you very much for help!

If you can’t undo what was done to the .htaccess file, just delete it and then re-save your permalinks at Settings -> Permalinks in your blog’s Dashboard.

Tried it and didn’t work. From what I know, the .htaccess file for this website is in upper catalog (wordpress in this particular case do not use the one in wordpress folder) Don’t know why someone did this (I didn’t make this website). Gonna check soon when I’ll get permissions and check the other .htaccess file.

    Thank you MacManx!

The easiest way to identify the .htaccess file causing the problem without deleting them is just to change the name of each one to htaccess (remove the dot) one by one.

Could you please tell me, how many .htaccess file can I expect? I’m not certainly sure where to find them. I know two: one in root wordpress folder and one in folder above. There is more?

It depends on how much more you have going on besides WordPress. 🙂

A typical WordPress instalation only has one .htaccess file wherever WordPress’s main index.php file is.

    Hi,

Problem has been solved. Server admin redirected .htaccess to wordpress folder and now it’s working as designed!
