I’m trying to set my categories to show in the menu, however it’s not appearing.
I’ve followed the WordPress tutorial and added the “Categories” to the main menu. Then I activated the menu, by selecting the “Main” menu as the primary.

I’ve also created posts for each of the categories. So theoretically, it should be working right?

Only when I create a page, then this appears on the menu. However, it does really appear in the Menu management. So I can’t remove or edit it.

Am I doing something wrong? Can anyone help me?

    Much Thanks

I’ve figured it out. For those of you who may be having the same problems.
You have to enable “Custom Menu” in “Theme Settings”

I think I’m having a similar issue. When I create/save a menu (Appearance > Menus > Menu Name > Create Menu ) and select/save it from the dropdown menu (Appearance > Menus > Theme Locations > Save) I am unable to select or edit the menu when I leave and/or refresh the screen. The menu displays correctly on the website, but I can no longer edit, without creating a new menu and replacing it.

Also, unsure if this is related (I’m guessing it might be) but when I create categories (Posts > Categories > Add New Category) they disappear when I leave and/or refresh the page, and do not show up as an option when creating a new post.

I’ve only had these issue since installing Worpress 3.x. I’ve re-installed fresh twice (mac 10.6.6/xampp).

Hopefully someone can help me, I’m at my wits end.

    Thanks!

    [SOLUTION]

For those having the same issue(s) I was having. My problem was due to not having proper permissions setup on the /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/etc/my.cnf

open terminal and navigate to the folder with my.cnf
    type: sudo chmod 600 my.cnf

hit enter then input your password. Restart mysql and you are good to go
