• Hi, I’ve had a membership site called AboutWritingSquared.com for five years or more. It’s built on WordPress using the plugin Wishlist Member. The site is hosted by 1and1.
Without going into all the details after three days they told me the site was infected with malware. This morning they say they’ve removed the malware… infected files… and restored the site.
The site still doesn’t work. Everything seems to be there but not hooked up right if that makes sense.
Although I put the site together it was at least 5 years ago and I have no idea what to do next. Or where to turn.
My goal is to restore the forum and all its posts or determine that it’s impossible to do.
Obviously I’m looking for help. Please, I think the first step might be ideas about where I should start – or maybe something else.
    Thanks

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • You have such great content even though I’m guessing you’ve lost a lot of earlier content. It would be a shame to lose all you have there. It seems to be a real treasure trove.

The first place to seek help is with the ‘Wishlist Member’ authors. They will probably take interest in any malware hacks and may be able to walk you through the whole site restore and getting the membership section working well.

As to the missing posts if there are any missing content after speaking with the plugin’s authors…

It might be the missing posts are hiding in the post list in the dashboard. Look there just to make sure.

You might look to see if you have a backup from before when this first happened and restore those posts that are newer than what is showing. They’ll be in the database. under ‘posts’ and ‘postsmeta’.
