Just today, I received a similar request by mail.
At the moment, this is not possible.
But since there is a request for it, I’ll consider it.
For now, you might try to sort the list of media post ID’s using another plugin.
As the shortcode used to show the picture gallery has the option to be the input for another shortcode.

Do you want to change the sort order in the admin page or on the front page using a shortcode?
