Markdown / Textile and RSS / Excerpts

    When using Markdown or Textile in posts, the RSS feed and post excerpts reveal the syntax of the respective markup. I posted this bug report and ultimately got a “there’s no problem; report closed” reply, which I find curious since even the latest version of WordPress and Markdown / Textile have the same error.

    I’ve tried modifying Markdown to apply filters to the excerpt and the rss, with absolutely no results.

    Has anyone successfully done this? How can I get Markdown to filter the RSS and excerpts for my posts?
