Manually Syncing Posts (via code)

Hi, I’ve noticed its possible to manually sync posts via the dashboard, is it possible to do this via code? I’m trying to use regular CRON to hook in to wp-cron so the social stats don’t require visitors to go on to the page.
To do this I’m using Crontrol to manually add a wp-cron task but it needs to hook in to a function that syncs up all posts within x months.
