Making Custom WP theme

    Currently I’m using some random free WordPress theme for my site:
    http://phpos.org/site/
    But it’s not great, and I want to make it myself pretty much, even though I don’t want to deal with makign a WP theme from scratch…
    Are there any recommendations for a free WordPress theme that can I can tear apart and rebuild into something custom and supreme for my site?
    The catch: I have to be able to say at the bottom: “Custom WordPress theme by Shovenose”

    It really depends on what style site you want to create. One option is to just use the default twenty eleven theme and create a custom child theme.
