Can anyone tell me how I can “switch off” my site or make it invisible? I want to keep the site exactly as it is, so don’t want to delete it, just make it not visible for a while.

Your best option would be to install a maintenance plugin. This would allow your site content to be visible to you when you are logged in, but visitors to your site would see a coming soon page. The one I use is Easy Maintenance Mode.

Yes Maintaince plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-maintenance-mode/

can help you in making all your post invisible.

Or you can do one thing Create a Miantaince page and make that page static from setting
