I used the recommended mailtester and got errors in the broken links category; 403 forbidden errors on 8 of my jpgs. I have checked my uploads permissions and found it is set to 755 as recommended. I have no hotlink protection according to my host. I do use CompressX to create automatic webp or avif versions of my product images and as you can see in my image it managed to find 3 of the avif versions. However I sent the preview email to myself and all the images showed up anyway. Any idea what is causing this error? Is it safe to just ignore it?

Update: Emails to mail.com and 10 minute mail are loading just 3 the three AVIF images and hotmail shows up completely blank. Yahoo and proton works fine even with the 403 errors.

    Hi @savingpatterns,

Checking your website, I found that:

The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden. (http://onepatternatatime.ca)

So let me ask you a few questions:

    • Are you using Cloudflare?
    • Can you check your .htaccess file and let us know if you see any rules mentioning HTTP to HTTPS redirects?
    • Can you please ask your host if when a request comes in over plain HTTP, the server returns a 403 instead of redirecting to HTTPS?
