• After the last WordPress update (just yesterday) I updated a variety of plugins and themes on a few sites, so I’m not exactly sure as to the timing of what may have caused this.

However, on one of my sites, using the Sparkling theme from Colorlib (it’s still very much under construction, so don’t judge me), after the update, it completely lost all the custom CSS that I added under appearance/theme options/other/custom css.

I’m using a child theme, so the edits I made directly to the child theme files are still valid, just the ones I posted into the custom css fields.

Furthermore, I’m having a plugin tell me that it is experiencing errors in loading the css, namely the calendar. I was able to eliminate that plugin as the culprit, so it seems that something seems to be suppressing something, somewhere.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

  • You should post your observation about Sparkling in the Sparkling support forum, I’m sure the developer would like to know, or maybe he has an explanation. From what I understand, the contents of a theme’s custom CSS option are usually stored in a database table, which should theoretically prevent any loss due to theme updates. I don’t know if Sparkling somehow stores its custom CSS differently, or if this particular update somehow cleared the custom CSS contents in the database.

Likewise, you should probably post a question in the calender plugin’s support forum as well.
