Lost comments and error with categories

I exported from wp.com and imported the RSS feed into .org. When I did so, none of my comments exported, all of my pictures exported in their own entry and my categories all exported in the following format: <![CDATA[*category*]]> with a separate category for each entry. Am I doing something wrong?
