I like it. My only observation is that the tittle of the blog is somewhat lost in the background image. I would suggest making it in a larger font and maybe playing with the colors a bit so it pops out a bit more.
I’m also tempted to say to use an image that has a little more to do with your subject (like some bills, coins, or whatever) but being that the one you have up ties up so well with your color scheme, that is not a big issue.
The other thing I would probably change, and again, that’s just me nitpicking, is to use smaller images on your main page.
But overall I think you did a very good design.

Jon-thanks for the feedback! I’d like to have my images all thumbnails, but it’s not an option for my theme and I have no idea how to make the change using code. If you do I’d love to know how!
Nice love it i might use it for my own needs by the way where’d you get that slider?
