Login redirect for admin
-
Hello, I was temp blocked from entering my site until I disabled the plugin through ftp. I had tried to use the secret admin login redirect, but it also changed my general user login page direction too, so it was pointless. Then I changed it back to /wp-admin and then I got completely blocked from entering the site front and backend.. Very frustrating.
Im not sure if this can be resolved, or if I just leave well alone.
Thanks
Leigh

Hi Leigh,
I had tried to use the secret admin login redirect, but it also changed my general user login page direction too, so it was pointless
Ok thanks for this info. We will see if we can slightly improve this feature to only apply the rename of the login access for the administrator and not the general subscribers/authors etc.
Then I changed it back to /wp-admin and then I got completely blocked from entering the site front and backend
When say you “changed it back to /wp-admin” how did you do that?
If you did anything other than uncheck the checkbox then that would explain why you most probably had an issue.ps: We have also found a small bug with the last release which we have now fixed and will release another version today.
(Summary of the bug fix:
Basically in addition to ensuring that the both the Rename Login Page and Cookie Based brute force features are not both active at the same time, we had to add a fix because the cookie-based brute force directives were not being deleted from the .htaccess file when the Rename Login Page feature was being activated)Hi, yes, I tried to return it back to default without disabling the option. I was stopped getting to the login screen from that moment on. Yes, it might be better if you add this feature to select registered users/admins that can enter via this portal rather than such a wide user base.
Thanks

That was the cause of your issue. If you want to revert to the original login page URL, simply just disable the checkbox for the Rename Login Page feature.
Yes. I assumed that was the case once I had got back into the site. Thanks and looking forward to the updates.
Thanks. Leigh
I don’t understand , I am using the brute force cookie prevention.
with secret password for admin . But when i go to my old http://www.mydomain.com/wp_admin , it still shows admin and not my new secret word url ? and i can still login on both ?
Am I missing somthing ? Is it because it has tracked my ip cockie ?
therefor knows its me or ? Thanks
@1bluewater,
what you are seeing is normal. This is because you browser already has the secret cookie and hence the plugin is allowing you through.If you try the same thing from a browser which you haven’t used to login to your site before you’ll find that you won’t be able to login (unless you firstly use the secret word in your URL).
Cool thanks a bunch …

Which firewall rules have you enabled?
You say you get the “403” error when you log in – does this mean you cannot access any of the administration pages?
Please provide more information.
For the firewall I have .
Basic Firewall..

@1bluewater,
Next time this occurs, check your browser address input field and copy the contents and let us know what it is.For instance at the time of the problem occuring I’m interested to know if you see something like the following as part of the URL:
…./wp-login.php?redirect_to=…
Hi well its strange sometimes I get this and some time it logs me out fine ?
