Line Space

I have a question. I added some new smilies but these smiles are larger then the ones that come with wordpress, so now when they are added they deform the line by creating a lot of white space above the line.

At that link you can see how the normal smilies don’t affet anything, but while the smilies in the comment deform it. Is there anything I can change in the style sheet with out resizing the image?
