• Left or right aligned pullquotes don’t work in Wp 5.5, or 5.5.1 and haven’t worked correctly since Gutenberg v8.3.0. The latest version, 8.9.1, continues to carry the same issue. THIS IS A MARKUP ISSUE. There’s been an Pull request logged on Github #24701 for more than 2 weeks.

It is not possible to edit a left or right aligned pullquote in the usual and expected way – by clicking on it. You can’t click on it! It can be selected through block navigation but editing thereafter is a nightmare, and I can already see the look of disbelief on the face of any user after I’ve explained the six or seven extra steps and the extra care they should employ to edit a few words in a box!

Also, styling a block with broken markup is pointless.

If anyone has a workaround or even a fix, i’d be grateful to hear about it, but can we get this fixed as a matter of urgency, please? The error has been round too long on a block which used to function perfectly, and it’s effectively stopping a roll-out of 5.5.

    Regards

FIX: A few minutes after posting this I had an idea. For those who also have this issue try applying position:relative; z-index:99; to [data-type"core/pullquote"][dta-align="left/right"]. My styles need a rethink (surprise, surprise) but the block is now accessible when aligned left or right.
