I would like to put a widget to the side of my webpage to go along with Marketpress Lite Shopping Cart plugin…. I want to be able to show my customers the new products that I have in stock…. can someone help me please??

Have you looked under presentation settings? specifically the product listing options. There isn’t a widget however, it can be set for the user to change the order of products lists and you as a store admin can set the default view.
