• Hi there

I am setting up a newsletter in my WordPress site with MailPoet. Works great… except the fact that everything (i.e. the newsletter subscription form and the newsletter itself) is in English instead of German. I.e. the individual button texts etc. are in English instead of German.
I would expect that the language is automatically selected for the MailPoet module depending on my setting in Settings->General->SiteLanguage (which I have set to Deutsch = German).
    What am I missing here?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi there @flix123 👋🏽!

Thank you for reaching out to MailPoet Support!

So, if I am getting this right your site’s language is German but that language is not being used by MailPoet on your site. It might be that the language translation files have not been updated for your site.

Can you head to ‘WP-Admin > Dashboard > Updates’ and see if there’s any update missing there?

    Cheers!

    Hi Dani

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Yes, my site’s language is German but the plugin shows everything in English. Please see here: https://defiguide.ch/newsletter/

I have checked the updates as you describe above. No outstanding updates. Plugins, Themes, and Translations all up to date.

Any idea where this could come from? This is a brand new WordPress site so I guess it should be pretty much standard and everything up to date…

Thanks a lot for your help

I now checked what language settings MailPoet plugin recognizes in my WordPress site by going to WordPress Admin page -> MailPoet -> Help -> System Info. There I see the following entry:

    WordPress language: de_DE

So all should work fine… but all MailPoet buttons etc. are still in English instead of German.

    Hi there @flix123,

Thanks for getting back to us with additional information!

Can you please check if you see the same text/buttons in English if you create a new form/newsletter?

I tested it on my site and newly created forms are created in German after I switch the language, but they remain in English for old forms.

Let me know how it goes!

    Hi Elvira

Thx foe getting back to me. What you describe is exactly what I tried Frist: I created a completely new form (not email) from scratch and buttons are still not in German. I also did the update for the new MailPoet version some days back. Still not working. I am kind of running out of ideas what to try next.

    Regards,

    Hi there @flix123,

Thanks for getting back to us!

Can I ask if you tried re-installing the MailPoet plugin? You won’t lose any data when doing so because it’s stored in your database but it may trigger the language files re-download.

Let me know how it goes!

    Hi Elvira

I figured out what the problem was: If I delete the browser cache, then log into the WordPress admin and THEN open my site with the MailPoet pages, then I see the wrong language (English) in the MailPoet pages. But if I delete the browser cache, then I do NOT!!!!! log into the WordPress admin and THEN open my site with the MailPoet pages, then I see the correct language (Germin) in the MailPoet pages. Really strange… I cannot explain why this happens but it seems that all is now working.

Just one issue with the German MailPoet pages: All pages like e.g. the confirmation page have the header text “MailPoet Page” instead of the German translation of e.g. “Confirm you want to unsubscribe”. I guess that the MailPoet page headers have not been translated to German and therefore the text “MailPoet Page” is the default text if no translation is available. Could you please guide me on how I can replace “Mail Poet Page” with the German version of the page header?

    Thanks a lot & regards,
    Flix

    Hi there

I am still having the issue that the newsletter subscription confirmation page, the newsletter management page, the unsubscription confirmation page, etc. show the title / headline “MailPoet Page” instead of the German translation of “Confirm you want to unsubscribe”. Do you have an idea how to solve this? Is this missing the the “Deutsch” (= German) language package? My WordPress translations are all up to date!

    Rds,
    Flix
