I am using the 2024 theme and latest version of Sensei 4.24.5 and WordPress 6.7.1. Every time I try to create a Course or a Lesson I get this error, “Updating failed. The response is not a valid JSON response.”. I thought this might be a plugin conflict but disabling other plugins did not seem to resolve the issues. When I inspected the page it seems that Sensei is throwing several errors, mostly to do with CSS and saying to use the block.json or enqueue_block_assets. The other repeated error is:
Uncaught (in promise)
Object
code: “invalid_json”
message: “The response is not a valid JSON response”

How do I fix these issues? I want to use Sensei since I’m using the block editor but obviously this isn’t going to work. Could this error have to do with the Gutenberg plugin settings at all?

I was not able to reproduce this issue on my end using 2024 theme, on Sensei 4.24.5 and WordPress 6.71. Here’s how the course looks like: https://sensei-paid-test.mystagingwebsite.com/course/new-free-course/

It’s possible that the issue is not coming from Sensei, but rather the way your site is configured. Would you try going through these troubleshooting steps? https://www.hostinger.com/tutorials/how-to-fix-updating-failed-the-response-is-not-a-valid-json-response

Specifically, please try checking your permalink settings in WP-admin > Settings > Permalinks. Visiting this page and clicking “Save Changes” without any changes refreshes the permalink settings, which can often resolve temporary issues

Hi Jay,

Thank you for checking. After doing some deeper digging I found that it was the Slim SEO plugin that was causing the conflict. I’ve since disabled that plugin and sent a message to their developers.
