I’m currently getting a javascript error in Internet Explorer (all versions of IE). All other browsers don’t error, and I’ve tried disabling all my plugins and changing the theme, but the error persists in IE.

The error is in jquery.js, version v1.11.2 minified, and it says:

    Script1003: Expected ‘:’
    jquery.js (2,2453)

I’m not sure what else to try. The site is http://melonhead.org to see the error. I believe the error is what is preventing the navigation menu at the top from working since jquery does not load properly.

Anyone else having issues with IE? I tried versions 8 through 11 and they all have the same issue.

  • My suggestion is not to worry about it as only 7 percent of the people still use IE and that number is dropping. I have certain issues running on IE but I don’t worry so much about it. Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome are the 2 top browsers right now. That is just my humble opinion. Here is the website with the browser stats.

Oy, I found the solution. The site was hacked recently and it looks like they changed the site to use UTF-7 instead of UTF-8. All other browsers could handle that for some reason.

Ok, well glad you found a solution that works. I will look at mine but I just think that IE wont render my pages correctly because of what I have on mine. Take care and happy blogging.
