    Hello,

    I’ve been expriencing this for a while now on numerous instances of WordPress with Updraft Pro installed and connected with Dropbox. On initial backup it fails with the following Curl error;

0082.566 (0) Dropbox chunked upload exception (Dropbox_CurlException): Failed to connect to api-content.dropbox.com port 443: Connection timed out (line: 135, file: /home/eclipse/public_html/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/includes/Dropbox/OAuth/Consumer/Curl.php)
0082.569 (0) Dropbox error: Failed to connect to api-content.dropbox.com port 443: Connection timed out
0082.573 (0) An error condition has occurred for the first time during this job
    0083.053 (0) Dropbox quota usage: normal=108163.4 Mb, shared=72107.2 Mb, total=1079552 Mb, available=899281.4 Mb

But if I leave it’ll resume and work either the second or third time.

Any ideas appreciated, seems to be Dropbox more than my instance or maybe the Updraft plugin. But it doesn’t matter what domain I’m on so it’s not a server configuration.

    Thoughts appreciated,
    Cheers

    Hi,

    port 443: Connection timed out

This indicates a network connectivity issue in between your server and Dropbox. UD will keep retrying.

    Thanks David,

Do you know if Dropbox is experiencing these types of issues recently? Should I be contacting their support?

As this is occurring on multiple servers I highly doubt it’s the server as it’s happening with servers hosted with numerous different providers.

    Appreciated,
    Cheers

I’m getting the same error, is there a solution to this?

If there are connection errors, then UpdraftPlus retries; just wait for it to do so.

Thanks, David. I did see that it was retrying, but never was able to complete. In my settings, it used to say that it was connected and had my name on there, that is not the case anymore. When I click the link to try and reconnect it, I get that same error after about 20 seconds of trying to connect.

Does the version of PHP that I’m using have anything to do with this? Think I’m using 5.5.

@pixelworker : you’re saying that your web browser is having trouble contacting dropbox.com during the auth procedure?

Yes, that’s correct, David. When I click the link in the settings to authenticate Dropbox, it gives that same error:

Dropbox/Curl error: Failed to connect to api.dropbox.com port 443: Connection timed out (Dropbox_CurlException) (line: 135, file: /…/…/…/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/includes/Dropbox/OAuth/Consumer/Curl.php)

Same thing if I try to do a backup with Dropbox, that was before I tried clicking the auth link.

    Hi,

That indicates that there’s a network connectivity problem in between your webserver and Dropbox. Hopefully temporary – if it isn’t, then you’ll need to speak to your web hosting company.

    David
