    I tried to post a comment using the name of a registered user, and the system didn’t even detect it. Bottom line, registering does not guarantee that no one will use (or misuse) your name.

    Is this a bug? I’d say so.

    It’s not exactly a bug. By default, WordPress enforces no restrictions on the names users supply when commenting. A plugin could conceivably be made, but is there real value? Maybe.

    If you feel it’s a bug, file a ticket at trac.wordpress.org, and the devs can weigh in with an official opinion.
