• I forgot to do the Tools/export when trying to move my wp site to a new server. I went in and changed the URL in Settings/General already.

Is there a way that i can go in and undo or change the URL back to the original so that i can access the dashboard?

any help would be greatly appreciated… i’m at the end of my rope here… 🙁

    thanks!

  • Is the old database still present & populated on the old site? Can you still access the hosting space?

What is it that you’re trying to get access to? If you moved WP, you will have moved the database as well, yes?

The old account (hosting and database) should be there. I haven’t removed it or deleted the hosting account yet.

But i cant get into the dashboard on the old account since i changed the URL in the settings area in WP.

Is there a way to restore the original wp site on the original domain & hosting account?

What about uploading a second instance of WP and linking it to the old database?

    real newbie question here….

does the dashboard tools/export file give you the same as the database export/import?

No – it only exports/imports the site’s content. The db export/import includes settings, plugin & theme data etc.

Didn’t think it was the same, but thought i’d ask… thanks for the reply… going to try hooking up to the old database in the next few minutes
