Hi, I do not have an iPad, so if possible, please post a photo/screenshot of the issue you’re experiencing so that I can better determine the issue.
Thanks! Please check if the affected have orientation info in their EXIF data (see here for instructions). Different software interprets the orientation info differently, so this may cause inconsistent behavior in some browsers.
Man, that sucks.
Looks like for what reason ever Apple has to go an extra way and uses the screen oriantation setting inside EXIF.

Do you know any plugin for wordpress to remove this on the fly?
Unfortunately I don’t know of any specific plugins. You may find something that meets your needs in the WordPress plugin directory though: Plugin directory search: EXIF
It looks like it was our fault.
Trouble was caused by an old software used to rotate picture which did not detect the screen orientation setting but left it untouched after saving.
So we rotated the images manually but left the orientation information in it.
That’s why some browsers/operanting system rotated the images themselves
Ah, glad to hear you were able to identify the issue and fix it π
