    Hello,
first of all, thanks a lot for adding a GDPR-Compliance so quickly. I was really happy about this update.
In the options section there’s now a checkbox asking about saving the IP-Adress. If I leave the checkbox empty, because I don’t want the IP Adress to be saved, it says the IP Adress is send via Email though, due to Spam options. So theoretical the IP Adress will still be somehow saved and there’s no way to NOT save the IP Adress at all, right?

Also there’s the possibility to add a note that appears under the send button. That’s where I added my description of the data privacy. Is it somehow possible to place this text ABOVE the send button? It’s probably safer to add the description text right under the checkbox itself.

    Best wishes,
    Alex

Hi, there are two things for the IP.
It will get sent inside the email notifications. You can edit that text in the settings, so you can easily remove the %ip% and the text around it. I will think if that should be removed from the default text, but still leave %ip% as an option available.

It is also used in anti-spam for Akismet and Stop Forum Spam. The latter service depends on that, it is the whole point of it. Maybe in Akismet it can be removed. I will think about that.

The text below the form is not the privacy policy. That should be much more. WordPress Core is working on updates for version 4.9.6 and so on. There might come a default page for it, that can be fetched with a function. I will wait for what they will provide. I could make something in the interim, but that won’t be guaranteed to be backwards compatible. I prefer to just wait.

The next version will not send privacy data to Akismet.
It will still send it to Stop Forum Spam, because that is what that service is all about.

I will update the default note and remove the IP Address from that default text. I prefer to wait for an update of WordPress Core, so I can also add a link to the privacy policy to it, and there is only one change to that default text.

Silly thing, the IP Address was never used in the default notification mails…

Thank you so much for your reply and help. I really appreciate it, that you’re modyfing the plugin to make it work with the GDPR law coming. The changes sound good and of course we still have some time to wait, what the WordPress Core will do.
But its good to know, you’re keeping an eye on it.
    THANKS!
