• I know my theme is not supported. I know that you can’t offer direct support but you guys can usually offer some advice to steer me in the right direction.

    I’ve attached a screenshot here showing the problem I’m having with IE. On the left side, IE cuts off the grey background and also doesn’t display my widgets. The right side is what it looks like with FF, Safari, and Chrome.

    Any idea why, other than IE being generally stupid, that it would do this?

    Thanks

  • The first troubleshooting step for IE is validating – as it’s particularly fussy about code errors:

    I did the test. Tons of errors and 1 warning. I’m not sure what Im looking for, though

    possibly caused by the old mistake of directly pasting from ms word;

    the IE8 stops with the post ‘It Came From…Netflix!…’ which contains a lot of ms word formatting …

    Hmm… copying and pasting your content into a post from MS Word can cause this?

    So I checked the HTML view for that post and you’re exactly right, it had a bunch garbage word coding in it. I removed it, and it fixed the problem.

    I really appreciate the help. Is it only certain versions of word that do this? Because I have copied and pasted from word several times with no problems.

    Oh yes! I’ve seen it bring whole sites to a shuddering halt when viewed with IE.
