Intermittent performance (pages not posts)

this isn’t my first time using simple lightbox – it’s always my plugin of choice for this kind of image display. i am having trouble in one site though, for which i’m using ACF gallery fields:

the differences between the two are that the working example is in a page, the non-working examples are in posts, and that the gallery field in the page is part of an ACF repeater (although i can’t see why that would make a difference).
i have enabled the plugin for both single posts and pages in the settings.
