Interaction with RSS feed? (6 posts)

    I am using the SEO plugin with great satisfaction
    I ve set titles settings like:

    %%title%% | %%sitename%%
    coming up wherever is
    <title><?php wp_title(''); ?></title>

    And nothing for the RSS settings

    Now, I have a problem with the titles of my RSS feeds
    that seem to come like:
    sitenametitle | sitename
    or sitenametitle

    ex: http://www.africanbushcamps.com/african-bush-blog/safari-specials/safari-specials-now/feed/

    I dont know where to change that in wordpress?!

    Could you confirm it has to do with the plugin? Any idea how to change?

    To be honest, I don't know that it HAS to do with this plugin, that's a comment feed and it normally doesn't actually do anything with that. Could you disable some of your other plugins and see if those have anything to do with it?

    Hi Joost, thanks for your answer...

    I suspect must have to do though... When I desactivate SEO plugin and use another theme (TwwentyTen), it comes back to order. Might be because I had changed in my theme, to comply with your advice:

    Be aware that for WordPress SEO to be able to modify your page titles, the title section of your header.php file should look like this:
    <title><?php wp_title(''); ?></title>

    I'll try play with that...
    Otherwise, seems complicate to change RSS template (tjhough I saxwb you gieve some trick somewhere!)

    Well... I confirm the plugin seems to affect my RSS feeds on blog categories

    When I desactivate SEO plugin, my feed on a blog category (http://siteurl/category-slug/feed/)comes:
    [sitename] ยป [category name]

    When I activate plugin, what comes in is what I set in the plugin category settings for titles:
    %%category%% | %%sitename%%
    except that it adds the sitename and that makes it all ugly:
    [sitename][category name] | [sitename]

    And this, whatever is in the header.php title (I finally left <title><?php wp_title(''); ?></title>)

    I dont know how to get rid of this initial [sitename] - and I dont want to desactivate this excellent plugin!

    I am with WordPress 3.0.5
    NB: to see updates, I have to change a post in the feed, or changes do not reflect

    OK, I ve found a solution that is not very nice but works...

    in wp-include/feed-rss2.php
    I change
    <title><?php bloginfo_rss('name'); wp_title_rss(); ?></title>
    <title><?php wp_title_rss(); ?></title>

    And then I get just what I had specified in Yoast Seo settings for titles:
    %%category%% | %%sitename%%

    However, I am not very happy to touch to WP core files... I dont know, there must be a way to do this somewhere else...?
