Your server will need Apache, MySQL, and PHP installed at a minimum. Once that’s done, start at the Codex and see if you can follow how to set up WordPress.
Okay, well I know we definately have Apache and I think there’s MySQL and PHP installed but I’m not entirely sure because the guy who used to be employed as the system administrator packed in and left and so we’re not sure about everything that’s been installed on here. Until we get a new system administrator I’m taking over those duties temporarily.
What’s the easiest way to determin if I have MySQL and PHP installed (and what version)? The OS is Windows2000 Server.

We have it installed on an intranet system running on Windows200server and it works fine. I can highly recommend Easy Web Server [http://e.w.s.free.fr/site/]- it works very well.
The only issue is trying to redirect some uri’s internally when we may be referring to a local directory etc.
My next challenege though is to install GD for images. I hve a nice little gallery package I want to try and we don’t have GD installed.

2. Also, Can i have a predefined workflow process installed in WordPress?
3. Can i use my existing address book (already present in my intranet) to authorize and authenticate people to use WordPress?

This might not be the right place but does anyohe know how to set apache so that when the admin logs in on an intranet, the administration menu actually appears? Not making it saying “Forbidden”?

You need to get Apache, MySQL and PHP working before WordPress will work. The setup you need is called WAMP if you’re using Windows, and LAMP if you’re using Linux. Maybe you can google for that. From your post before, it sounds like you Apache running but it’s not configured right. Sorry, I don’t know much about Apache.

I installed WP on WAMP following the guide fro, urbangiraffe.com. My PC name is xyz01.
So, if i do http://xyz01, the blog appears, but other users on the intranet do not see the styles, images etc as it appears on the page as http://localhost/wp-admin/x.jpg
Any idea as to how this can be resolved ?
