• SOLVED — manually edited wpconfig.php file, used different prefix for table name, but same database as parent domain directory.

    —————————————-

We have a WP 2.2.2 install with a web hosting provider who is using a virtual hosting via hostname (not dedicated IP). The “parent” WP install works great.

However, we just had a subdomain established on the same account, they created a subdirectory that maps to a different hostname. I uploaded the new version 2.7 of WordPress to this subdirectory, and when I request the /wp-admin/install.php I get a message telling me “Already Installed, You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.”

Likewise, if request the newhostname.clarku.edu/wp-admin/ it tells me the product is already upgraded, and wants to redirect to the parent hostname (??).

That is totally puzzling to me, because I have yet to create any connection information in the new wp files. There are no references in those files to the parent host name.

    Thanks for any suggestions,

    Chuck
