Install error

I installed wp and I keep getting an error once I go through the admin login screen. blog/wp-admin/login.php is the current window and the index.html of the main page is displayed for some reason. Is this a bug perhaps? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the system (including dumping the database) and the problem persists. any help would be great. Thanks,
