I have just set up my WordPress blog and don’t wish for much more template customizing now except putting a logo image inside the kubrick theme header gradient (leaving the logo with the gradient in background). I am not familiar with the WP template structure and any leads into this will be a good push for a better understanding of WP customization. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Spencerp,

No, I haven’t. Are you trying to fake me out or is it really fixed? πŸ™‚

    Hi

I am a newbie to word press and would appreciate any help.

I used my own jpg to upload personalheader.jpg with the default theme and it all worked out fine.

    question:
The width seems more or less OK but the full hight seems to be excessive and perhaps may take dialup users a while to d/l such a large image. I also don’t see any reason for wasting so much space. It seems to me to be better to have a width of 760 and a hight of perhaps 50 (or 100 at the most.)

As is, if my photo is 1/2 hight, it will show that Blue background (or whatever color I change it to).

The point is not just to make a smaller picture, but to figure out a way to make the entire header to be at least 1/2 hight(or 1/4 hight) so all the text (weblog title AND tagline) and the image will all take up 1/2 as much as it does now AND the entire Blog underneath it should be “lifted” to being right underneath the 760 X 100 rather than beginning after the image or empty space equivalent to 760 x 200 – yet retain all the text (weblog title AND tagline) within the space of 760 X 100

    Thanks

We just loaded up in the Theme section, Guru Manager, to take the headache out of changing everything in your Blog. No programming code is required in keeping with the idea of load and blog. Not sure if that would sort out your current problem. Guru Manager β†’ Flash Tutorials Page
Change Colors, Header (24 Graphics in library included or upload your own 760 x 180); Alter navigation links, background, add Google AdSense. All from Sidebar after login. No Programming Required.

    Guru Manager

Now bear in mind that my mastery of html is very basic, and knowledge of php is barely rudimentary. However, I have uploaded and edited themes. But gurumanager does not work for me. I upload it, activate it, but it won’t allow me to change anything from the browser. I click “change banner”, “change color”, etc, and it does nothing. It really seems like a great theme, but something’s not right for me.

    Any ideas, GM?

    Thanks,
    Kay

Kay, Sorry we found a little bug to do with the Cookie. Will have it fixed in the morning. In the meantime have a play around with the Demo site where we removed the Cookie. Check back for the fix within 24 hours or RSS this feed to catch it when we have uploaded it.

    Guru Manager

Okay Bug fixed. The reason it took us a bit longer was that it worked on some servers and not on others. We finally sorted it out. Updated the ZIP and also for those who have it already installed simply download the Bug Fix for Guru Manager v1.1 it has only 4 files (index.php – function.php – sidebar.php – navbar.php). Unzip these and upload to Guru Manger Theme directory and it should work okay.

    Guru Manager

Well, now I get this error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: is_wp_admin() in /home/kaylowe3/public_html/wp-content/themes/gurumanager/sidebar.php on line 68

    Whattup w/that?

    Kay

    Kay another minor problem.

    Sidebar.php
    Line 67 should read

    include_once(“function.php”);

This was missing in the downloaded version
    We issued a Bugfixv1.1
But if you simply add this to line 67 of your Sidebar.php it should sort out that matter.

    Thanks for your patience

Update on Guru Manager Theme. Now Dynamic Sidebar Widget ready. Latest version available for download or use Bugfix (5 files) to upgrade existing installation.

It seems a week is a long time in Politics but it is also a long time in the development of a WordPress Theme from launch to the next upgrade.

Guru Manager Theme has just been upgraded and we removed the reliance on the Database by moving the data to text files. This allows for a simpler install process and also to be nice we included a few more Banner Graphics to chose from on your Blog (26 in total now).
