• HI there

Thanks in advance. We have a WP site that has been hacked, it appears.

Is there a fix within WP for this type of issue??

We have a list of malicious files that need to be fixed.

    Can someone help?

    Thanks in advance.

To find and remove potentially dangerous files, there are various security plugins. E.g. WordFence: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordfence/

In such cases, I would recommend directly using a backup and not trying to remove the infection first. Otherwise, this could become an eternal battle.

    Thank you so much, threadi.

The problem is now I can’t even login to that wp account. The whole site is unavailable.

If it really is a hack, then it sounds like the attacker has locked you out. You can try to regain access by changing the password of your account directly in the database. How to do this is described here: https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/reset-your-password/#through-phpmyadmin

Alternatively, you can also delete all files and the database via hosting (e.g. via FTP) and then use a backup of the project to set it up again.

    hi threadi

thanks again. I’m thinking about doing just that. I was thinking of deleting all the files on the server and then use a backup of it. Are you sure that would work because I don’t want to bring the infected files onto my hard drive?

    thanks again

You need an infection-free backup, of course. If you are unsure of this, use a staging system to check the backup. If your hoster offers you enough space for this, it is not necessary to upload any backup or file to your local computer.
