indent subcategories

i read many posts about sub categories indention but those don’y work for me.

I am using
<?php list_cats(1, ”, ‘name’, ‘asc’, ‘file’, false, false, false, false, false, true, 0, 0, false, ”, ”, ”, true; ?>
in sidebar.php to display my categories.

if i want to display my categories like
Main Category 1

sub category 1.1

sub category 1.2

what codes should i use in my stylesheet and how to put it in my sidebar.php? can you show me the codes both in sidebar.php and stylesheet?
