import/transfer widget from another theme?

    I’m wondering if there is protocol or steps to follow to take a widget from one theme and use it in another. I’m basically trying to use a tabbed widget in a theme that didn’t come equipped with one. Is it too complex to do in more than a few steps or tweaks to the functions file, etc.? Many thanks
