I purchased this plugin on Code Canyon several years ago. I have it on this site now:
    https://downtownluray.com

I am redoing the site with a new theme on a testing site before I transfer. I installed this plugin and tried to import the directory csv, it took it but when I went to Directory Listings, Nothing shows up.

If I just replace the theme on this site and use WP Migration to put the new site in its place, will the business directory stay as it is and still be useable?

    Thanks

    Hi @elames,

Sorry for any confusion here. We are a different plugin than the directory one on Code Canyon. But looking at your site, I believe you have ours installed. 🙂

WP migration (either via XML or SQL) doesn’t usually move our content properly. We do have a migration plugin to move BD from one site to another. It transfers everything–categories, listings and settings.

Please find the module linked below. Installation instructions as well.

    DOWNLOAD HERE: http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/special/business-directory-migrate.zip

To install the module, upload the attached file as a plugin under Plugins->Add New, click Upload and then find this ZIP on your local computer. Activate the plugin when you’re done to complete the process.

You need to do this on both source and target sites. Both sites must have the SAME version of WP and the SAME version of BD installed for this to work correctly.

    Documentation is here: http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/docs/#migrate

But if you’re just trying to upgrade the old site with a theme, that should work as well.

Business Directory Plugin will work with any well-written, WP 4.x compliant theme. Generally speaking, paid themes tend to be higher quality than free ones, so we don’t recommend those.

Whatever theme you pick, we recommend using the Theme Check plugin (available for free on WordPress.org) to validate how WordPress-compliant that theme actually is. The more errors and warnings you see on the theme when you run that check, the worse the theme is. You can read more about it here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/theme-check/

(This plugin was developed by WP Core developers to validate their own default themes and is highly respected in the theme community)

In general, we like WooThemes as a solid company with great products and support. You can check them out here: http://woothemes.com Or StudioPress: http://studiopress.com

Oops guess I did use yours ..sorry for confusion.
I am switching the Theme to Divi for the site. I will just transfer the new site pages to the current site. Will the business directory just show automatically in the designated page where I have the code. I tried to import the directories cvs fle to the new site but it does not show up. So I figured I would just leave it there and only put in the new pages
Does that make sense. Or I guess I could use your migration plugin
    Thanks

If you have a new site, you’ll want to do the following to make things work:
    – Don’t use CSV import to move your directory from one site to another. It won’t move settings, categories, regions or anything else except the listings. It’s not meant for this operation.
    – Using the migration plugin, from the old site, create a migration file
    – On the new site, import the migration file inside the migration plugin
    – On the page that matches your old site, make sure you have the shortcode [businessdirectory] on that page to output the directory (IMPORTANT–without this, nothing will happen!)
    – If you see any weird display behavior, you may want to try “compatibility mode”. We know Divi, being a complex theme with some very custom behaviors, needs this in some cases to display the directory properly.

To turn this on, go to Directory Admin->Manage Options, General tab, “Disable Advanced CPT Integration?” and check the box next to that.

Try that and let me know if you run into more issues.
