Images Disappearing?

Hi Guys and Girls,

I am in the process of tidying up my wordpress site TwistedSkies and I have noticed in some of my older blog posts the images have gone and I am left with the broken link icon as on this page.

I have not changed anything specifically to these images, what is even stranger is that when I go into the post editor and look at the details of the image there is none! No links no nothing. It is also odd that some are still on the site and these are not…..

Under advanced settings there does appear to be a link:

but this no longer links to anything???
Does anyone know how this might happened, what I might have done or what might have changed externally to cause this? I really want to avoid having to replace them and in some cases try and find the originals!

Yes, you are hot linking to someone else’s image and they took it down. Hot linking is using someone else’s bandwidth and is considered poor form.

Hi Guys,

First off thanks for the replies….

Is that first link from sitecheck real or a trick for me to download some suspect software?

Secondly…Hotlinking, so this is linking to an image not stored within my wordpress? They were my images and not someone else’s so the problem lies in that where I was linking too the image link no longer works say Flickr, Facebook or my web hosting service?

How does this use up ‘others’ bandwidth, sorry for all the questions and thanks again!

Hi Guys

I have been doing some more digging these images were hosted on facebook using the blog/notes facility and I transferred these over to wordpress. I guess a change in privacy policy has broken the links or they have moved the images. I have found the old posts, with the images will upload these to my site and replace the images so they are stored on my site.

As Seacoast Web Design pointed out, your site has malware on it and will eventually get black listed.
