• Hi,

This theme is awesome! We are using it to create our new cosmetic brand.
But we are having some problems and don’t know how to fix them.

    1) I can’t understand what is going on with the size of the slider. It seems to be modifying the original pictures resizing them and they look very strange. Is there a way to control this? I read the ideal size is 1170×500 but resizing my pictures to that makes them look awful. Even when I change some of them to that size after they get in the slider I don’t see the complete image but a chunk of it.

    2) Is it possible to control in general the size of the slider? Can I make it

    Thank you for your help.
    Diego

  • I’d love to know the answer to this too.

I figured it out. Turn off full screen slider in the customize’it screen and upload your images at 1200x500px with white borders on the sides to fill up any excess space. Check it out here: http://www.1135penn.com

Great minds think alike! ;0) See the related thread I just posted here.

I have two pictures, both 1170×500, but one is being cropped, made a lot shorter.

One os png one is jpeg, might that be the problem?

i have such problem as well, but i still can’t find this problem why image resized or cropped in my slide. any help would be appreciated. i hope there will be some codes to solve it.

    @fjimage – link to site?

I have been trying to fit a photo into the slide by resizing/cropping it to 1170×500 but it doesn’t seem to change. Also, when I resize or crop the photo in WP, the SAVE button below the photo is blanked out and I therefore can only click on the UPDATE button on the right … but this doesn’t seem to saves the new dimensions either. I have reduced the slider height – has that got anything to do with it ? BTW , I have already turned off full screen slider option. http://www.mplanes.com/worpress. Thanks.

This has been driving me mad! No matter what size i made the images, they still got cropped when I used them in the front page slider.
    I finally used this workaround:
Using Photoshop I made a new PS document 1170x500px with a transparent background. Then I resized the images I wanted to use on the slider to be 400px high. I copied each one onto a transparent 1170x500px background, leaving a blank 100px border at the bottom. Saved as JPEG and uploaded into media. i’ve used two such images today on http://www.bdponline.org. They work for me, both with full screen slider option turned off or left on.
It’s a messy way to do it, but it gives me the effect I wanted.
I hope this helps (I also hope that someone will find a code solution that works!)

@chorleyps – that’s very interesting and the result is certainly elegant — although I might be tempted to fill in the transparency with #fafafa to match the background..

Have you modified the Slider code at all? It seems to be ignoring your 1170×500 alpha channel and also ignoring your smaller image transparency, choosing instead to upscale your image data to fill the allotted Slider space, ie to 1170×500. I assume that this results in some loss of image quality/sharpness in wide viewports.

The images display at 1170×500 without any of the alpha padding you have given them; and yet the “Planners.jpg” which I downloaded is actually 920×500 of which the bottom quarter is a solid white strip 125px deep – which does come into play in the smaller viewports, leaving perhaps too much empty space between the image and the element below. And the Slider has flattened your image, discarding the alpha channels, so you might lose nothing by filling the alpha channel with #fafafa.

It’s a very neat compromise solution. The perfect answer will be one which doesn’t force the Slider to upscale images and also maintains the relationship between the Slider and the elements below when responding to small media.
