Image Cropping and Server Requests

    I have a product page with 4 variants each with there own corresponding image.

    An image is shown in the primary product view, the gallery and as a color swatch. The problem i have having is with 4 variants and 3 image associations it is making 3 requests to the server per variant for a total of 12 requests instead of just 4.

    Can someone point me in the right direction to use just the primary image and have that linked to the gallery and my color swatch? So that 1 image per variant is shown in 3 different locations resized.

    Thanks in advanced, i’ve been looking around online and just keep finding plugins for image resizing which doesn’t solve this problem in reducing requests.
